Layout measurements

Estimates only. Verify the final file with Amazon KDP's official cover calculator and previewer before upload.

    Check an existing cover size

Enter the document size from Canva, Acrobat, or another design tool. Differences within 0.01 inch are treated as close.

    Core paperback dimensions

A paperback cover file needs the full wrap width and height, not just the front cover. The full width is left bleed, back cover, spine, front cover, and right bleed. The full height is top bleed, trim height, and bottom bleed.

The spine width is the final manuscript page count multiplied by the verified paper factor for the selected interior.

    Final verification

Before upload, compare the result with the official KDP cover calculator, use the latest KDP help pages, and inspect the file in KDP Previewer.

    FAQ

What DPI should cover artwork use?

KDP commonly expects print-ready cover artwork at production quality. Use the current KDP cover formatting guidance for exact image and PDF requirements.

    Does this replace KDP Previewer?

No. This is a planning and checking tool. KDP Previewer and the official calculator remain the final verification steps.
