Layout measurements

Estimates only. Verify the final file with Amazon KDP's official cover calculator and previewer before upload.

    Check an existing cover size

Enter the document size from Canva, Acrobat, or another design tool. Differences within 0.01 inch are treated as close.

    What the calculator returns

The result shows full cover width, full cover height, spine width, front cover, back cover, bleed, safe margin notes, and a barcode reserve area. The SVG template uses the same dimensions so you can inspect the guide before opening it in a design tool.

The formulas in this version are for paperback covers only. Hardcover, case laminate, dust jacket, and other print platforms need separate rules.

    How to use the size

Use the full cover width and height as the document size for a wraparound paperback cover. Place the back cover on the left, the spine in the middle, and the front cover on the right for left-to-right books.

If your artwork reaches the edge of the page, keep bleed enabled and extend background color or imagery into the bleed area.

    FAQ

Is this an official Amazon KDP calculator?

No. This is an independent planning tool. Always verify final dimensions with the official KDP cover calculator and previewer before upload.

Why did my odd page count change?

Print manuscripts commonly resolve to an even page count. This calculator uses the next even page count and shows a warning so the spine estimate is not too small.
