Enter the document size from Canva, Acrobat, or another design tool. Differences within 0.01 inch are treated as close.

    Bleed in cover design

Bleed gives artwork extra space beyond the trim edge so color or images can reach the finished edge after cutting. This calculator uses 0.125 inches on each outside edge when bleed is enabled.

Keep text, logos, and important details inside a safe margin rather than placing them near the trim line.

    When to use no bleed

A no-bleed setup may work when the cover has a plain white border and no artwork reaches the edge. Many designed covers need bleed.

    FAQ

    How much does bleed add?

With 0.125 inch bleed enabled, full cover width adds 0.25 inch total and full cover height adds 0.25 inch total.

Is safe margin the same as bleed?

No. Bleed is outside the trim edge. Safe margin is inside the trim edge where important content should stay.
